We were honored to welcome Congressman Sean Casten to Maercker School for the second year in a row!
Thanks to the advocacy and leadership of Elizabeth Ojeda-Jiménez, MEA Co-President and Director for the National Education Association, Maercker School District 60 has had the privilege of connecting with Congressman Casten. Through her work representing the Illinois Education Association in Washington D.C. and building strong relationships with legislators, this meaningful visit was made possible.
During his visit, Congressman Casten engaged with our 5th grade students, answering thoughtful questions about the U.S. Constitution, his background as a scientist, and his responsibilities as a United States legislator.
Our students demonstrated curiosity, confidence, and insight. We’re incredibly proud of them and grateful to the entire 5th grade team for their dedication in preparing our future leaders.
We deeply value the relationship we’ve built with Congressman Casten and look forward to continuing this inspiring partnership in the years ahead.
Thank you for empowering our young learners!

Yesterday, Mrs. LaPointe's WIN class partnered with the Village of Westmont to plant two drought-resistant native trees on the Westview campus. This initiative helps increase the tree canopy cover in our area and contributes to reducing the urban heat island effect. The project not only supports environmental sustainability but also provided students with a meaningful, hands-on learning experience in local ecological stewardship. Great job!

Science Fair for 7th and 8th graders can progress to the Regional and State levels. This year, six students from Westview planned and carried out their own experiments, writing a detailed lab report, and made it to the State Exposition in Urbana Champaign, where they competed for $60,000 of prizes and scholarships. It was a grueling ordeal with over nine hours of judging, but our students did an amazing job. Aayush, Bhaumik and Rituraj, and Sreyashi and Madhurya all placed in the gold category for their projects, with Bhaumik and Rituraj receiving the Thermo Fisher Prize for being in the top 10% of all projects. Angel received a special cash prize for Outstanding Use of the Metric System. Way to go, Wildcats!
