Last week the staff at Holmes joined together to learn about redirecting language to support students with behaviors. This is part of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) work centered around the book The Power of Our Words. #d60learns


Maercker D60 has a great mentorship program in place for our new teachers! Our mentors and mentees recently spent time learning together around strategies to build relationships and routines in their classroom. #d60learns

Students at Maercker kicked off the first week in the library with fun activities including a virtual scavenger hunt to familiarize themselves with the different genres in the library, and were able to check out books and get some reading done! #d60learns



Ms. Obrzut's 3rd grade class made the outdoors their classroom for a math lesson on division recently! They used chalk to draw diagrams and learn how to divide in an engaging, creative and memorable way. So cool! #d60learns





National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 each year. The Maercker D60 Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee kicked things off in a big way last Friday with a potluck picnic. It was a great turnout and a wonderful way to celebrate our community!






Interested in running for school board? Maercker D60 will be hosting a presentation on Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 6-6:45 p.m. at Westview Hills for anyone in the D60 community interested in running for school board in the April 1, 2025 election.


Congratulations to our IESA State Golfers Clare M., Anya L., and Reagan K. On Thursday in Metamora, Clare shot a 92 to finish just outside the top 25 in 26th place. The meet caps off Clare’s wonderful four years as a Wildcat Golfer. Anya shot a 103 in 51st place and finished with three birdies in her round. Only the top two golfers finished with more! Reagan shot a 111 in 70th place in her first appearance in state competition. So proud of all the girls and the entire group of boys and girls golfers on a great season!

Maercker School will be celebrating International Dot Day on Monday, Sept. 16! Students can join in on the fun by dressing up in dots to celebrate the message of the book "The Dot" of "Just make a mark and see where it takes you!"

She will speak to all students about her newest book, A Strange Thing Happened in Cherry Hall, and then autograph copies of the book after the assembly. Students and staff have a chance to order copies of her newest book through the Westview Library in collaboration with Anderson's Bookstores, and copies of the book will be raffled off to students as well .
