For this year’s One School, One Book, Maercker School is reading Restart, by Gordon Korman. Maercker School recently wrapped up the second annual Tournament of Books where 16 picture books, read by 16 teachers faced off every day in March. Students watched and listened to each story and then voted for their favorite until we came down to the championship between The Gingerbread Man Loose in the School (read by Mrs. Setter) vs. Little Pea (read by Mr. Sepich) When the votes were tallied, we had a tie! This is such a fun event; the kids get so excited to take part in the voting process and the teachers have a blast selecting and reading their book. #d60learns

Students in second grade have been reading about New York in their phonics studies. Mrs. Blake worked with teachers to extend learning to learn more about other states. Students were able to spin the wheel to pick a new state to research and were able to share their research, and learn more about Google tools by making a True/False quiz game for their peers on Google Slides. #d60learns
